Michael’s Double Success
Colin Stays on Top
Justin and Dan Break Spell of Challenge Bad Luck
The Mid Wales town of Newtown welcomed competitors for the 8th Challenge Round of the year. Fog on the higher stages of the event which included Sweet Lamb made it a tougher test than the traditional Woodpecker route, formally based at Ludlow Racecourse.
Oxfordshire’s Michael Jenkins reported that he heavily relied on the expert guidance of Jordan Joines on the pace notes and his days work saw him take the Current Challenge Lead. There was more cause for celebration with the BTRDA B10 title also wrapped up with two rounds still to go.
Another crew to get 4th in Class were Geoff Phelps and Colin Jenkins which has extended Colin’s lead at the top and elevated Geoff to current 6th.
After two non-finishes for current Junior Champion Dylan Fowler-Bishop and Overall Champion Dan Evans, the crew were eager to get a good result under their belts. They took the Restruct sponsored Nissan Micra to an incredible 20th overall out of 87 finishers, despite a fuel issue on the last two stages, and finished over 6 minutes ahead of the nearest 1400C Class Rivals.
